Friendship In The World
Jesus came to preach, but his mission didn’t end with his sermon. In Jesus’ life, we see the beautiful and redemptive mission of friendship. Jesus was willing to befriend the lost and the least among us. He was willing to touch the untouchable and eat with the despised. Jesus was a friend of sinners. Are we willing to take steps toward friendship in the world? This sermon is part of The Surprising Power of Friendship sermon series, recorded on Sep 22, 2019, by Pastor David Parks on Mark 1:35-42; 2:13-17. Truth: A Window, A Mirror, A Lens
Jesus was full of grace and truth. Why is truth so important? Truth is a window to see what is real in the world. Truth is a mirror to more clearly see yourself (your strengths and weaknesses, your sin and your potential for growth). Truth is a lens to more clearly see other people (their value and dignity, their need for grace and love). Pursue the truth. Face the truth. Speak the truth. This sermon is part of the Following The Way Of Jesus sermon series, recorded on Sep 1, 2019, by Pastor David Parks on John 1:14-18. Listen/download here: Podcast: Download (Duration: […]

Humble Helpful
In stark contrast to our age of being quick to speak and quick to anger, the Apostle Paul wrote, “…make it your ambition to lead a quiet life.” What does this mean? Work hard. Mind your own business. Don’t be dependent on anybody. Be generous with those in need. The “quiet life” is a respectable life because it isn’t rooted in pride or selfishness. Following the way of Jesus leads to a life that is humble + helpful. This sermon is part of the Following The Way Of Jesus sermon series, recorded on Aug 18, 2019, by Pastor David Parks on 1 Thessalonians […]

Remarkable Love
Loving people is hard. Why? It’s perfectly natural to be afraid of people who are different. Different means unknown and the unknown could be dangerous. Is it any wonder that fear defines so many relationships across differences in religion, ethnicity, class, and gender? Plus, the needs of others often make costly demands on our personal freedom. However, the love of Jesus is greater than fear. And even though it’s costly, the love of Jesus is far better even than personal freedom. Following the way of Jesus leads to a life of relationships defined by Remarkable Love. This sermon is part […]
