The final truth to remember when you struggle with fear is that God is faithful (even when we’re not). The Bible is not a story of the faithfulness of Gideon or even of God’s people. The Bible is one long story of God’s faithfulness to people who are undeserving and ill-deserving of his love, patience, and kindness. God is faithful because Jesus was faithful long before we could ever stumble or fall. If you’ve ever felt like a spiritual failure, just remember that God is faithful (even when we’re not).
