One of the ironies of human beings is that we are self-aware…but we’re not very good at it. Why? As the proverb says, “The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters.” It’s hard to discern our own motives and desires and all the things that drive us. But God knows us. He knows everything about us. And if we spend time in Spirit-led reflection, if we learn to think in the presence of God, then God will search us, test us, and reveal to us his way—the way of everlasting.
