New Wine: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. John the Baptist’s disciples and the pharisees’ disciples were regularly fasting, but Jesus’ disciples were not. Why? God was doing something new through the person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus compares the old/new work of God to an old/new cloth and wineskin—the new work doesn’t fit into the old, but replaces the old altogether. “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This new work of God should be the focus of our lives and is worth celebrating now and forever more.
