Our vision as a church is, “That the gospel of Jesus Christ will transform the people of the city in every way.” For us, life is about learning to follow Jesus and helping others do the same—disciples who make disciples. When we turn from our way and follow Jesus, we experience God’s grace and love and life to such a degree that our lives can’t help but change. Jesus changes everything!

Jesus is absolutely unique. There is no one else like him. Jesus is a man who claimed to be God. In fact, he was put to death (crucified on a cross) because of this claim. Three days later, Jesus rose alive (was resurrected) from death and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses. Jesus’ close friends and family were among the witnesses. These were people who would not have easily been fooled by a false claim of divinity. (Imagine convincing your brother that you are God!) They not only believed who Jesus claimed to be—the Son of God from heaven, sent to save the world from sin and death and judgement—but told others about Jesus and the resurrection, many at the cost of their own lives. Jesus calls everyone, everywhere to follow him. Jesus is Lord and Christ, King and Messiah, God and Savior.

The word “gospel” means good news. The gospel is the good news story of who God is, what he has done, and what he is doing in the world today through Jesus Christ. The gospel tells about creation, the fall to sin, redemption through the saving work of Jesus, and the restoration of all things. The Apostle Paul writes, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Ro 1:16). People need to hear the gospel, people need to see gospel transformation in the lives of Christians, and people need to believe the gospel and follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Believing the gospel and following Jesus brings forgiveness and freedom from our past; love, joy and peace for our present; and hope and eternal life for our future. This is very good news! The gospel results in a rhythm of life of worship, community, ministry, and mission. At Appleton Gospel, it is our desire to pursue this rhythm of life together as a messy but beautiful new family of God.

No matter where you are on your journey of faith, please know that you are very welcome at Appleton Gospel Church. For real. You don’t have to be a Bible scholar or have your life completely figured out first before being a part of the community. It’s ok to be imperfect, we all are. It’s ok to have questions and doubts. In fact, some of the first followers of Jesus had questions and doubts, too. If you are interested or have questions about any of these things, please contact us or visit anytime.
