Jesus

Our vision as a church is, “That the gospel of Jesus Christ will transform the people of the city in every way.” For us, life is about learning to follow Jesus and helping others do the same. When we turn from our way and follow Jesus, we experience God’s grace and love and life to such a degree that our lives can’t help but change. Jesus changes everything!

No One Like Him

Jesus is absolutely unique. There is no one else like him. Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. In fact, he was put to death (crucified on a cross) because of this claim. Three days later, Jesus rose alive (was resurrected) and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses. Jesus’ close friends and family were among the witnesses. These were people who would not have easily been fooled by a false claim of divinity. (Imagine convincing your brother that you’re God) They not only believed who Jesus claimed to be—the Son of God from heaven, sent to save the world from sin and death and judgment—but told others about Jesus and the resurrection, many at the cost of their own lives. Jesus calls everyone, everywhere, to follow him. Jesus is Lord and Christ, King and Messiah, God and Savior.

What is the Gospel?

The word “gospel” means good news. The gospel is the good news of who God is, what he has done, and what he’s doing today through his Son, Jesus Christ. The gospel includes creation, fall, redemption, and new creation in Christ. The Apostle Paul writes,

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes”

Romans 1:16

The invitation in the gospel is to believe it and follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Saving faith brings forgiveness and freedom from our past, love, joy, and peace for our present, and hope and eternal life for our future. This is very good news! The gospel results in a rhythm of life of worship, community, ministry, and mission. As a church, we desire to pursue this rhythm of life together as a messy but beautiful new family of God.
