The Way of Life
According to Jesus, the 6th Commandment, “You shall not murder.” is not limited to murder. The prohibition of murder is rooted in the greater principle of the priority of life. God’s desire is for people everywhere to work all the time for the flourishing life of every other person. Prioritizing life starts with your attitude toward others and requires reconciliation with others. The way of Jesus is The Way of Life. This sermon is part of The Good Life series, recorded on Feb 2, 2020, by Pastor David Parks on Matthew 5:21-26. The Way of Goodness
Most people think the purpose of life is to be a good person. And most people think that heaven is a place where good people are eternally rewarded. But Jesus teaches an unexpectedly different way of goodness and way to heaven. Jesus reveals that your desire to be a good person is right! But you need a greater righteousness than your own. You need the very righteousness of God. This sermon is part of The Good Life series, recorded on Jan 26, 2020, by Pastor David Parks on Matthew 5:17-20. The Way to be Different
Following the way of Jesus is different than the way of the world. But does that mean Christians have to be weird? or offensive? How should Christians relate to other people? In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus uses salt and light to teach his followers a way to be different. And his way brings good news to others and glory to God the Father in heaven. Jesus Our Great High Priest
Because Jesus came into the world, that means that he personally understands what you’re going through. There’s nothing, no temptation, struggle, pain, or loss you could endure that he doesn’t understand. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Why? Because of Jesus, our Great High Priest. This sermon is part of the Incarnation: When God Moved In series, recorded on Dec 29, 2019, by Pastor David Parks on Hebrews 4:14-16.
