Jesus is Enough
Jesus is Enough: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. When Jesus miraculously feeds the four thousand, he receives nothing but unbelief, misunderstanding, and outright opposition. However, Jesus is enough. He is enough for the one who is near to God, the one who is far from God, and even the one who may be considered to be offensive to God. In community we must encourage and remind each other daily that Jesus is enough. Recorded on Jul 5, 2015 by Pastor Josh Crabb on Mark 8:1-21. Light for the Gentiles
Light for the Gentiles: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. Jesus’ healing work in the Gentile regions around Judea show that the gospel is for all people. As the Apostle Paul says, “it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” But why is there a distinction between Jew and Gentile in the first place? Where does this come from? In the story of salvation history, we see God’s amazing wisdom and work in the unfolding plan to bring salvation and life to all peoples, through […]

The Heart of Worship
The Heart of Worship: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. When religious leaders clash with Jesus over issues of the Old Testament Law, Jesus challenges their understanding of and faithfulness to the Law. Today, many people are confused by the differences between the moral, ceremonial, and civil laws (Do we pick and choose which laws to follow?). Others are confused by the role of the Law in the New Testament (Is the Law bad now?). So what’s the deal with the Law? The Law reveals our need for a savior, points to the coming of Christ, and is […]

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. When Jesus comes upon a large crowd of people, he has compassion on them and stops to serve them in word and deed. Rather than sending them away, Jesus miraculously feeds them providing a picture of what it means to have a ministry mindset. Jesus models compassion for people, total dependence upon God, and humble service that marks a ministry mindset. This results in the glory of God and the invitation for his disciples to share in this work. Ultimately, disciples of Jesus have a ministry […]

Alive in a Broken World
Alive in a Broken World: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. John the Baptist’s beheading by Herod Antipas and his wife, Herodias, reveals the brokenness of the world. In the story, there is confusion about Christ, broken marriages and family relationships, injustice, oppression, evil, and death—all while celebrating a birthday party! This story—and many events in the world today—beg the question: How should Christians relate to a broken world? Some withdraw from the brokenness while others welcome the brokenness with open arms. Christians are neither to withdraw, nor welcome, but bear witness to the goodness of the gospel […]

Sent with Good News
Sent with Good News: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. After being with Jesus for some time as he preached about the kingdom of God, healed and befriended people, and called all people to repent and believe the good news, the twelve Apostles are sent out to do the same. Jesus had called them with a purpose and then sent them out as a community on mission with power and a plan. Want to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Something more? Disciples are sent by Jesus for his mission. Recorded on May 24, 2015 […]
