A Prophet Without Honor: This sermon is part of The Gospel According to Mark series. What does it mean to be human? A human being is a man or woman made in the image and likeness of God. The image and likeness of God gives intrinsic value to every single human being, regardless of age, race, faith, contributions to society, etc. At the Fall, part of humanity was distorted and lost in sin. So Jesus Christ, though he was God, came into the world as a man (fully God and fully man) to redeem and restore humanity. However, when Jesus comes to his hometown of Nazareth, he is rejected in unbelief. In the peoples’ eyes, Jesus is just too human. If the story of Jesus—though unexpected—is accepted by faith, it has the power to make us into the people that God has created us to be.
