A Gospel of Reconciliation
The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of reconciliation. Reconciliation is the restoration or healing of a broken relationship. The gospel is the story of the broken relationship between people and God, and the announcement that God has done the unthinkable through his son, Jesus, in bringing reconciliation to our relationship with him. All this was motivated by the love of God. People were the great passion that motivated God in his saving work. Now, those who have been reconciled to God have been entrusted with the message that brings all peoples together. This sermon is part of the Reconciliation series. Recorded on Jun […]

A Story of Redemption
Do you believe that God, in his sovereign grace, has the ability to work all the characters and all the plot-points of your story—even all the sin, struggles, and suffering—for good? Do you believe your story is a story of redemption? If Joseph had written the script for his life, undoubtedly, his story would’ve been completely different. But God is the great Redeemer, and the harm that was intended for Joseph was redeemed by God for good, for the saving of many lives. Seeing Your Story in God’s Story
The Bible is primarily about God’s story—the good news of who God is, what he’s done, what he’s doing, and what he’s promised for the future. And when you see this story and you understand that you actually have the opportunity to play a key role in it, it changes you forever. It gives you a greater purpose. And it gives you a better perspective to face whatever happens in your story. God’s story is the key to all of our stories. This sermon is part of the Joseph series. Recorded on May 20, 2018, by Pastor David Parks, from Genesis 45:1-15. Listen/download here: Podcast: Download (Duration: […]

How To Love Someone Who Hurt You
No one can love you like your family. But at the same time, no one can hurt you like your family. We’ve all been hurt to some degree by people who are supposed to love us. How do we love someone who hurt us? Twenty years after they sold him as a slave, Joseph is reunited with his brothers. How will he respond? Joseph remains open to reconciliation but he wisely tests them to see if they had changed over the years. He allows them to slowly rebuild his trust. How do we love someone who hurt us? Carefully and slowly, with discerning wisdom. […]

God’s Faithfulness in Suffering
God’s faithfulness in suffering—There is a pattern we see repeated throughout history: suffering before victory, wilderness before promised land, crucifixion before resurrection. This shouldn’t surprise us. But in the midst of our suffering, we tend to question if God has forgotten us. He hasn’t. God is faithful. You can trust him. God has shown himself to be faithful time and time again. God is faithful to his word and his saving work. When this pattern appears in your life, God will be faithful. You can trust him. This sermon is part of the Joseph series. Recorded on May 6, 2018, by Pastor David Parks, from […]
